Erika is a licensed Associate Professional Counselor in the state of Georgia. She received her Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from The University of North Carolina at Charlotte and received her bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a minor in Neuroscience from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Erika has worked with adolescents and adults in both private practice and outpatient clinic settings focusing on a wide range of issues such as trauma, mood disorders, anxiety, and relationships. While Erika works with a variety of presenting issues, she specializes in working with individuals who have experienced various forms of trauma. Erika has trauma-specific training and is trained in EMDR. She seeks to help individuals suffering from the physical, mental, emotional, and relational effects of traumatic experiences to take back control in their life and find healing and growth.
Erika utilizes tools from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) in addition to mindfulness and somatic techniques while also taking an approach that considers the importance of relationships and the influence of social, environmental, and biological factors. However, Erika pulls from a range of approaches to best fit the client’s needs and the circumstances and concerns being addressed in the sessions. She works with her clients to gain insight and understanding of their past and how this connects to their current state of being in order to help them identify and focus on their strengths and use these as tools to move towards positive change and to reach their goals.
