The results of neurofeedback can be long-lasting because the brain is learning new, healthier patterns—much like building muscle memory. Once your brain learns these new ways of functioning, it often retains them. Many people notice improvements that continue even after training ends. However, just like physical fitness, factors such as stress, lifestyle, injury, or new challenges can sometimes create setbacks. In those cases, occasional “tune-up” sessions can help maintain progress.
